LOW CENTER OF GRAVITY Panoramic Ball Heads

The E Series of LOW CENTER OF GRAVITY ball heads are the result of our latest R&D efforts. Utilizing our patented design, it offers better stability, a strong locking mechanism, and a lighter weight, enhancing its usability to suit a wide range of cameras, lenses and other accessories.

Unlike the conventional way of locking the ball, whereby a force is applied through a knob to the bottom of the ball to force it upwards against the ball head body in order to lock the ball in position, our locking mechanism utilizes what is naturally already available. The body that is already wrapped around the ball is used to lock the ball in position, by tightening the body against the ball. This not only ensures a tighter grip on the ball because of the increased surface area of contact, but the ball head height is lowered as well, improving the overall stability. Moreover, the material used is less as well, because of the lowered body, as well as because some parts of the body can now be removed, resulting in a lighter ball head that not only improves the locking strength, but the stability as well.

Our ball heads has one of the best weight/size to load ratio around.

Our ball head knob used to lock the ball is state of the art as well. Instead of a conventional round knob or a lever knob, our knob incorporates the advantage of both, with a built-in ratchet design. The locking mechanism comprises of a hexagon nut and a lever with a hexagon hole that acts as a ratchet. The lever can be pulled away from the nut and turned to another angle to engage the nut again, allowing the user to tighten or loosen the nut as much or as little as needed, just like the conventional round knob. Moreover, as we use a lever, the angle is also restricted, so the ball drag can be controlled, so that the ball will not suddenly become too loose that the equipment attached suddenly droops. This acts as a natural micro drag control on the ball head without need for additional hardware.

The Quick release clamp is also improved by lightening the weight through removal of unnecessary material, and quicker locking of the camera onto the ball head, improving shooting efficiency.

1. Low Center of Gravity Design

Our engineers utilized the fact that the ball head body is already wrapped around the ball with a large contact area to the best advantage. Using this wrapped around design to tighten the ball not only results in a stronger lock, but the body height is also lowered, improving the ball head stability.

2. Ball Control Wrench Lever

Ergonomically designed for easy tightening, our lever is less likely to slip compared to a round knob. A hidden hexagon nut is tightened or loosened by the lever, which restricts how much the ball can be tightened or loosened, to act as a friction control to prevent the ball from becoming too loose. However, the lever also acts as a wrench, and can be pulled away from the nut and turned to another angle to engage the nut again. This effectively combines both the locking and friction control of the ball into one single lever.

3. Compact & Lightweight

Due to the low gravity design, our ball heads uses less material. We also purposefully hollowed out areas that do not affect stability, to come up with compact, lightweight ball heads with one of the best weight or size to load capacity ratios around.

4. Panning/Panoramic Function

All E series ball heads comes with an independently controlled 360° panning base, with degree indicators, for smooth panning and easy, accurate positioning of panoramic shots.

5. 90° Portrait Slot

The ball heads are equipped with 90° slots for quick, accurate changeovers from landscape to portrait. E1 & E2 models come with 1 slot and E3 models comes with 2 slots.

6. Bubble Level

All ball heads are equipped with 2 bubble levels, one on the quick release knob, and the other one on the quick release clamp, for accurate level adjustments

7. 3/8” Mounting Thread Size

The base of the ball head uses a standard 3/8” thread size, to fit most standard tripods and monopods. An adaptor can be separately purchased to convert the 3/8” to a 1⁄4” thread size.

8. Quick Release Clamp

The clamp is Acra-styled to be compatible with most Acra-style plates in the market. Excess material that does not compromise clamping strength have also been removed to lighten it.

9. Quick Release Plate

The Acra-style plate is equipped with safety studs to prevent any equipment from sliding off the quick release clamp. Non-slip rubber padding is added to prevent the attached camera from turning against the plate, and as protection to prevent scratching the camera base. The ¼” stainless steel screw comes with both handle and coin slot for easy tightening.

10. Surface Treatment

The ball heads are anodize treated to resist wear and scratches.
